I also want to recognize my younger cousin.

You may know her as the Brightest Farruya. She's my 13 year old cousin, Karina Farruya, who I'm convinced is capable of doing and being anything she chooses.

Last summer, a group of 11 Robert M. Finley Middle School girls – who have known each other since kindergarten – wanted to do something more with their time off from school. The girls, who are all under the age of 14, created a fundraising group known as “Stitches for Joy and Cupcakes for the Cure,” or SJCC. Using the skills they learned at camp, they stitched bracelets with intricate patterns and baked hundreds of pink ribbon cupcakes, which they sold at events held throughout Glen Cove.

The girls made appearances at the Downtown Jazz Festival and Morgan Park Beach Festival. By the end of summer, they had raised over $1,000 for their cause of choice: the American Breast Cancer Foundation.
“We all have family members or friends with breast cancer,” said Farruya.
Their efforts encouraged other members of the community to take action, as residents began making baked goods for further support, according to a recent news release. Even as a new school year began, the girls continued their philanthropic work. This past October, the girls sold cupcakes at the Jones Beach Breast Cancer Walk for a Cure and have created Facebook and Twitter accounts to spread the word of their endeavors.

“Having fun together and, at the same time, knowing you’re doing something right for others; it’s just a really good feeling,” added Blinkoff.

While the girls' hard work stands out on their high school activity sheets and counts as community service, Farruya said that the fundraiser is more than just about fulfilling school requirements: “It’s not that we wanted to put this on paper,” she said. “We felt that this was needed to help others."

Birthday Wishes..
IF you were thinking about getting me something for my birthday OR was just curious about what type of stuff i even like please READ ON…

My birthday is April 28th and i’ll be turing 20. I don’t have any major plans, other than be with people i love and eat a lot of delicious food.
I’m not asking for gifts and quite frankly, don’t need anything.

BUT if you would like to get me something, i’d LOVE for you to donate any amount of money to my Grandmother’s Day Center for Families Without Homes: THE FAMILY PLACE. Ever since i can remember my Grandmother has been a Social Servant, dedicating everyday of her life to help those less fortunate. In 2001, Margaret Lovejoy started her own center for families downtown St.Paul, MN. i’ve been fortunate enough to be a regular volunteer at THE FAMILY PLACE and am taught a different life lesson each time i’m there.
IF you’re interested in donating you may, give cash or checks to me personally (this may work easier for people i see on a regular basis. **NOTE** all cash WILL be donated and WILL NOT be used for any other purpose)

Make CHECKS payable to: The Family Place
OR MAIL cash or checks to:
The Family Place
244 10th Street East
St. Paul, MN 55101
OR Donate Online HERE

i did this for my 13th and 14th birthday as well, and was able to raise a nice amount for The Family Place. any amount helps and is greatly appreciated.

Marzy.

So upset I missed when they were in Dallas in March. I was stuck out in Austin/San Marcos. Hopefully I'll catch them next time around; I bet they put on a good show.

The biggest church day of them all, today is Easter Sunday. I'm in Alexandria, Louisiana so I can be with my Grandma for this weekend. At this time in my life, today's festivities don't mean much to me, but Grandma gets what Grandma wants.

This morning, I'm going to Church. I reckon it's been some time in 2009 since I've last been (besides Funeral services that quickly become all Jesus talk). Plusss, I got the worst sleep ever last night; I'm very unrested and cranky. It's going to be a goddamn exorcism during service. Hopefully I won't startle the people sitting around me if perhaps I start to smoke or suddenly twist my head around my neck. I'm sure my family is already expecting that. It being Easter Sunday and all, I fear I might not make it if church lasts longer than 2 hours. One will know if I survive if I return to blog some more tonight. We're getting on the road after this so it will probably be late this afternoon.

So, this page caught my eye when I was reading People Magazine. This couple right here is Allen & Violet Large.Allen is 75 & Violet is 78. They met in 1964. Ever since 1983, they have purchased two lottery tickets every week. Last year, Violet called the lottery hotline to check out the winning numbers, & turns out they won. They won $11.2 million dollars. & guess what they did with it? They donated it all to doctors, their own country, family. & kept none for themselves.

They say they are content with their ‘87 Dodge Diplomat Suburban & their 148 year old Victorian home,

Here’s a quote from Violet near the end:

” Money can’t buy happiness.” ” We have everything we need; I have Allen and he has me.”

I took this picture because my grandma, being the sweetheart she is, looked me up and down today. When I asked her what for? She said my dress came down too low. -____-

One of me favorites from her, for sure

Florence and the Machine is an alarm clock for my heart

Video could have been cooler though.

Also. I don't like this song to be on the soundtrack for Rob Patterson/Reese Whetherspoon's new movie. doesn't match.
